Nicolangelo Gelormini is an italian director, screenwriter and editor.

 

Born in Naples, he studied at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia after the degree in Architecture.​

He began working as assistant director to the Oscar winner Paolo Sorrentino.

In 2020 he writes, directs and edits his first feature film Fortuna, starring Valeria Golino, Pina Turco, Cristina Magnotti and Libero De Rienzo, produced by Dazzle, Indigo Film and Rai Cinema, in Official Selection at the 15th Rome Film Festival and screened worldwide at the 24th Black Nights Film Festival of Tallinn.

Inspired by a true story, the film wins the Stockholm International Film Festival.

Adam Mars-Jones defines it on The TLS: "...an highly impressive debut film. (...) A puzzle picture in which competing realities overlap on supersede each other, fit company for, say, Donnie Darko or David Lynch's Lost Highway, but infinitely cooler in tone ".

Guy Lodge writes on The Guardian: "...Fortuna, an eerie, fragmented sort of child's-eye horror film, in which first-time director (and former architect) Nicolangelo Gelormini shows auspicious, angular style".

Fortuna is released in theaters in Italy on May 27, 2021 distribuited by IWonder Pictures.​

In 2020 he directs Isabelle Huppert in the interactive movie Hotel Vivier Cinémathèque.​

In 2019 he realizes the fashion film Abracashoes, starring Christina Ricci and Dianna Agron.​

In 2015 he shows at the 72nd Venice Film Festival the music video All The Things, song written by David Lynch and performed by his muse Chrysta Bell.​​​

In 2013 he collaborates with Luca Ronconi in the Bertold Brecht's Santa Giovanna dei Macelli, staged at Piccolo Theatre in Milan and at the State Academic Maly in Moscow.​

In 2011 he wins the Film of Festival Award at the London's Raindance Film Festival with the shortfilm Reset and in 2012 he is invited to be part of the international Jury.​

In 2010 he's involved in the collective film Napoli24 with the episode My Madre, released by Istituto Luce and screened at the 28th Turin Film Festival.​

In 2008 he wins the RaiUno competition show Serata d'Onore with the shortfilm Caro Benzina, starring Milena Vukotic. ​

His first works as director were the music videos Vivi Davvero and Ladra Di Vento Live for the italian singer Giorgia.

Nicolangelo Gelormini è un regista, sceneggiatore e montatore italiano.

Nato a Napoli, si diploma al Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia dopo la Laurea in Architettura.​

Intraprende la strada del Cinema come assistente di Paolo Sorrentino.

Nel 2020 scrive, dirige e monta il suo primo lungometraggio Fortuna, prodotto da Dazzle, Indigo Film, Rai Cinema e interpretato da Valeria Golino, Pina Turco, Cristina Magnotti e Libero De Rienzo, presentato in Selezione Ufficiale alla 15° Festa del Cinema di Roma e in anteprima mondiale al 24° Black Nights Film Festival di Tallinn.

Ispirato ad una storia vera, il film vince il Bronze Horse come Best Film allo Stockholm International Film Festival.

Nel 2020 dirige Isabelle Huppert nel film interattivo Hotel Vivier Cinémathèque.

Nel 2013 firma per il Maestro Luca Ronconi gli interventi filmici del Santa Giovanna dei Macelli di Bertold Brecht, in scena al Piccolo di Milano e allo State Academic Maly di Mosca.​

Nel 2011 vince il Raindance Film Festival di Londra con il cortometraggio Reset e l'anno successivo è chiamato a far parte della Giuria internazionale.​

Nel 2010 partecipa con l'episodio My Madre al film collettivo Napoli24, distribuito dall'Istituto Luce e presentato al 28° Torino Film Festival.​

Nel 2008 vince in diretta TV il programma Rai Serata d'Onore con il corto Caro Benzina interpretato da Milena Vukotic.
Le sue prime regie sono i videoclip Vivi Davvero e il Ladra Di Vento Live per la cantante Giorgia.

Ha insegnato allo IED di Milano e al Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia nelle sedi di Milano, L'Aquila e Palermo.
